Web site optimization…
We have customers who consistently ask us: “How can we optimize our website to get more sales?” Well, that’s a question they should ask before building their web site or doing a revamp of the site. Believe it or not, but just taking a client’s old web site and trying to optimize it for Search engine optimization (SEO) or user interaction can be more costly then redesigning the site all together. The reason is if its a new developer then they have to decode the original developer’s work. This process can take hours of observing every page and deciphering the code to get the clients wanted results!
There are a few different ways a site may be designed where it is easier and more cost effective to optimize it. If a developer used a CMS like wordpress, drupla, or joomla!, most of the code is already optimized for SEO. This goes the same for e-Commerce platforms such as Magento, X-Cart, or opencart. If a client wants to update these types of sites they need to focus on density of the content, more detailed keyword focuses, and relevant meta descriptions.
Another feature of optimizing a site would properly tagging your titles of your sites page with h1, h2, h3, and h4 tags. Remember, though they are important to a page, you usually do not want more then six of those on one page. Title tags are import for web site SEO due to the fact that most search engines specifically emphasize these tags for being important titles.
There are a number of things that you can do to optimize your website and allow for a better user friendly experience. My advice to any small business owner is to invest the money on a website at the beginning and build that site to allow growth of your business. It will save you time, money and customers in the end. This in turn increasing revenue.
